Restoration works are currently in progress at the historic Jesuit Church in Valletta, with a focused effort on preserving and rejuvenating its intricate decorative stone elements. These efforts involve the careful cleaning, repair, and repainting of stonework that has adorned the church since its early days, with the aim of restoring it to its original splendour.
This delicate restoration process is being carried out under the supervision of the Restoration and Preservation Department, ensuring that all interventions respect the cultural and architectural significance of the site. Once completed, the project will breathe new life into the Jesuit Church, reaffirming its place as one of Valletta’s most treasured landmarks.

Along Racecourse Street, at the foot of Saqqajja Hill on the road leading to Siġġiewi, stand four historic stone pillars known as Tal-Plieri. These pillars dating the time of the Order of St John and have recently been restored by the Restoration and Preservation Department.
More than just stone markers, Tal-Plieri once played an important role in the traditional horse and donkey races held along this route during three annual feast days. Positioned approximately 100 metres apart, they marked the starting points of races that formed part of one of Malta's oldest and most cherished traditions.
