Local Council Restoration Scheme
The Local Council Restoration Scheme, first launched in 2015, aims to preserve Malta's historical heritage by facilitating small and medium-sized restoration projects for vernacular buildings and monuments. Administered by the Restoration and Preservation Department, the scheme allows Local Councils to propose restoration projects for historical sites, including churches, chapels, towers, statues, and other monuments. The department oversees the entire process, from project planning to execution, utilizing specialized equipment for surveying and scientific investigation to enable fully informed restoration methodologies.
